Subway is suing CBC Marketplace over the latter’s report in February regarding the sandwich chain’s poultry products.
CBC reported that independent lab tests of two Subway poultry products found they “could contain just 50 percent chicken.”
Subway argued that its products are made of large amount of chicken and even conducted its own tests to prove that they contain less than one percent of soy protein.
“The stunningly flawed test by Marketplace is a tremendous disservice to our customers,” said Subway president and CEO Suzanne Greco in a press release.
“Our customers can have confidence in our food. The allegation that our chicken is only 50 per cent chicken is 100 percent wrong.”
CBC declined to comment, saying that the matter is now before the courts.
