After a bird flu warning was issued by the World Organization for Animal Health in Vietnam, Saudi Arabia has banned their importation of live birds, hatching eggs, and chicks from the said country.
This was confirmed by Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine director-general Osama Bin Abdullah Al-Saleh.
“Several cases of avian flu have been detected, therefore, the import suspension will remain until the disease is completely eradicated,” Mr. Osama added.
Saudi Arabia has recently banned poultry products from Tennessee, USA after bird flu cases were reported.
The ban will remain in place until Vietnam and Tennessee become free from the disease.
