Pampanga Declares Bird Flu Free Status

The Department of Agriculture has announced the lifting of the ban of transportation live poultry. Based on the test conducted, the four poultry farms in Pampanga tested negative of avian influenza virus.

Bird flu clearance were given to each poultry farm by the Department of Agriculture that passed the 35-day monitoring period.

In August 2017, farms in Pampanga were stricken by the bird flu virus, the first in two decades. This prompted the DA to issue a 7-km quarantine zone around the farms affected.

The farms were cleared in October 2017. Problems arise in December after dead birds were found in poultry farms.

Supply of poultry was not affected during the holiday season.
