Kenya to Lift Ban on Uganda Poultry Products

Kenya will lift the ban on poultry products from Uganda following a 15-month embargo because of a viral disease outbreak.

According to Kenya’s Deputy Director of Veterinary Services, Michael Cheruiyot, the decision to lift the ban came after talks with Uganda and an assessment that ascertained the country is now free of avian influenza disease.

“We have been in discussion with Uganda and agreed that we are going to lift the ban completely following eradication of the virus in Uganda,” said Cheruiyot.

The two countries agreed to fast track the process of lifting the ban so that trade can go back to normal.
