The Chicken & Rice Guys, a popular chicken restaurant and food truck chain, has been shut down following an anonymous complaint about people getting sick from the food.
The Health Department is expected to meet with the owners of the Middle Eastern food company to discuss a plan of action.
Health inspectors closed several restaurants and food trucks because of an E. coli outbreak. At least seven people were reportedly infected after eating at the company’s Allston location.
Three of the company’s stores were shut down Tuesday (April 11) along with the company’s four food trucks that rotate locations around Boston. Its Medford location will remain open because it was outside the jurisdiction of Boston inspectors.
Owners said they will not reopen until they’re sure they can provide the best service and products to their customers.
E. coli symptoms include stomach cramps and vomiting. Infected people recover in five to seven days, but about five to 10 percent develop complications that can shut down the kidneys.
