Birds Eye, an international brand of frozen foods, launched an urgent recall after a mix up saw beef pies sent out in chicken boxes.
Aside from the obvious difference, the steak pies contain mustard that can trigger an allergy. The company said a “small number of pies” were affected, bit did not disclose the exact amount.
The affected pies are those with the barcodes L7301MRN52, L7301ARN52 and L7301NRN52. All have a best-before date of March 2019.
“The Steak Pies contain mustard which is not mentioned on the label. Therefore it is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard,” Birds Eye said in a statement.
Spokesperson from the company urged people who have bought the product to return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
