Thousands of chicken nuggets from a truck crash in Melbourne have been rescued and served up at a Salvation Army meal center.
While the majority of about one million McDonald’s chicken nuggets were damaged in the Hume Freeway crash and had to be discarded, some 200,000 were recovered and donated to the Salvos.
After inspection, the nuggets were put into cold storage and are now being dished out to the city’s people in need.
“It’s amazing to see the impact of something as simple as chicken nuggets can have on people,” said Salvation Army Major Brendan Nottle. “It’s just been sensational.”
