Britain Reports New Bird Flu Case

About 35 birds were reported to be infected with H5N8 avian influenza in Haltwhistle, according to the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The authorities have declared a three kilometer protection zone and ten kilometer surveillance zone around the infected Northumberland farm.

All birds were euthanized after a number of them have died.

The government has also ordered an investigation to determine the source of the virus.

Public Health England said that the virus does not pose a threat to the public, while the Food Standards Agency says that the virus will not affect the country’s food safety.
