“During the meeting with the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment last week we agreed on an inspection of Belarusian companies in the first half of the year for possible supplies of poultry and beef to the Arab market,” said Aleksei Bogdanov, head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“Usually the certification of companies takes some 4-5 months, so we hope to launch our exports in late 2017.”
Authorities have conducted preliminary work to prepare the visit of UAE inspectors to Belarus, including Halal certificates from the companies for further requirements.
Meat factories in Belarus have attended a seminar organized by a UAE company in December 2016 on how to process meat under Halal standards.
Bogdanov said 14 companies joined in an international exhibition called Gulfood 2017 in Dubai, UAE. Gulfood is one of the biggest global food expos, garnering huge number of participants around the world.
